Top Australian kitchen appliance brand Breville will lend its support to the 42nd Annual Series of Seminars on Food and Nutrition Researches organized by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

Happening on July 4-5, 2016 from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria, Ortigas, Quezon City, the annual seminar carries the theme “First 1,000 Days of a Child’s Life: Interventions through Research, Services and Technologies.”

Expected to attend are more than 1,500 government and non-government officials, food industry partners, entrepreneurs, nutritionists-dietitians, nutrition workers, members of the academe, research organizations and the media. There will also be oral and poster presentations of scientific researches, undergraduate research competition and food exhibits throughout the seminar.

As one of the event’s sponsors, Breville will be conducting several activities in relation to the theme. Aside from holding product demonstrations including juice sampling during the two-day event, Breville also invited a technical resource person who will conduct an informative session on child nutrition.

Dr. Liezl M. Atienza is a Professor at the Institute of Human Food and Nutrition, College of Human Ecology at the University of the Philippines-Los Baños in Laguna and is also a research scholar of Food Science at the Washington State University and at the University of Idaho in the USA.

Her talk will revolve around a child’s and the mother’s nutritional needs during the first 1,000 days and show various ways of consuming food to meet one’s nutritional needs such as Eating, Blending and Juicing.

Dr. Atienza will also discuss the benefits of juicing to a mother and child’s nutritional concerns, particularly on the aspect of fruits being natural supplements and an additional source of essential vitamins and minerals. There will also be a presentation on quick and easy juicing plus juicing recipes using local fruits that are proven delicious and nutritious courtesy of a Breville juicing specialist.
