“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

- Jeremiah 29:11

A reading embedded in a post creatively done for us by a regular customer. BubbliciTea came to a full understanding that if it’s God’s will, in His time, anything is possible.

Annie Tamayo-Furukawa & family returned to Malabon from the USA to take care of an ill father. Her father wanted them to come back and start a business. Sadly, her dad joined his Creator on her birthday this February 2013. To fulfill a promise, BubbliciTea was born.

‘Bubblicitea is our tribute to him’. Annie’s father was a native of Malabon, someone who never turned his back to a city that has been through worst calamities. Her father left a legacy and kept his name in good standing. The daughter is as optimistic. ‘Malabon boasts of good food. My family is a group of food lovers. What we don’t have here is a place where there’s comfort food, a classy, feel good place and reasonably priced for everyone to enjoy. We are bringing all this through Bubblicitea Café where everybody can truly feel at home and friendships begins.’

photo2Annie and her four (4) children are truly at home. She turned to Malabon as her field of dreams and built Bubblicitea Café with her family. Her eldest son is the Head Chef and the brain behind each trend-setting recipe. ‘It was conceptualized as a Milk Tea business with some comfort food, then we found this place which is very accessible to our house.’ Annie wanted the Grand Opening on May 1, her father’s birthday. Given only 2 months, she led her family to a 360 ? turn from grieving. Whilst planning, it was as if a guiding voice was at the helm and everything fell into its proper place. ‘Everything happened so fast. The choice of name, the inclusion of a Japanese character, the drinking cow as a mascot—all of these things though were carefully thought of. Ideas came pouring in but we all agreed to make things simple.’ She sought the help of her nephew and renowned Architect, Ronald Soriano, and voila! The interior design continuously amazes their customers.

Bubblicitea Café was built for the folks of Malabon who deserved better. One enters the café not feeling like being inside a mall or in Malabon even. ‘What we want is to give our customphoto3ers good ambience... feel relaxed and comfortable, but still want them to feel at home, here in Malabon’. The menu is the brainchild of Annie’s eldest daughter, Ivy. Customers can order drinks such as Dark Vader, Toffee Lee Jones, Pretty in Pink, Wintermelon Romance, and TBC (The Bubblicitea Classic). Simple as it is, Bubblicitea offers premium milk tea concoctions, all mixed with ‘passion, with a dash of love and happiness’. It also boasts of comfort food, which aims to set a trend in culinary excellence. But still, all things are kept simple and affordable, all for the Malabon folks.

They get customers from all walks of life, some even coming from the nearby town of Navotas and Valenzuela. Some say, their offerings are equally good, if not, better with other high-end competitors.

Word of mouth and the power of social media, brought people to the doors of their store, eager to line up for a sip of their famous ‘Dark Vader’ or to have a taste of the ‘Go Chef Special’. Everyone is now goin’ mooolicious!

The owners always think of something new and unique to offer, something their customers could look forward to every week. Annie loves the idea of menu spontaneity. Chef Jp’s “Go Chef Special” is his freedom of expression. And with food preparation made easy by Breville Kitchen Appliances, they could easily whip up surprising tea concoctions and gourmet-like food ideas for their growing clientele. The pizza is selling like crazy, some customers would come and order food alone “to-go”. ‘Because of Breville, I guess we are in the food business now’, according to the owners.

Bubblicitea is a testament that a successful business need not be big in capital or investment but a place where everyone is. You just need the right product, right place, and right time. Do it with the right people who are committed and inspired not by financial gain alone but a driving force, in this case, Annie’s dad. It is a success built and managed by a family who believes and relies on each other and remains on keeping it simple.

‘We are in food business, yes, but it’s all about love for the Family and Friends, sharing Quality and Healthy food and drinks to Nourish not only the Body, but also the Heart, Mind and Soul. We made a pact, a promise, a commitment to my father and no matter what happens, we will fulfill.’
